However, in the building process we try to maintain a high level of quality that satisfies the customer.  Many opinions exist on the proper methods and materials used to achieve high quality.  Instead of boring you with pages of instructional manuals, Alliance Drywall Inc. decided to give you our opinion as if it were our personal home. 

One of the most FAQ's we here is the following: If this was your house how would you insulate, drywall, and tape-bed-texture it? We hope the following helps you in your decision making with your project. 

Insulation

1. Polycel at all base plates, windows, and top plate penetrations

2. r-13 unfaced with 4 mil poly at 2 x 4 ext. walls

3. r-19 unfaced with 4 mil poly at 2 x 6 ext. walls

4. r-19 kraftface at all ceilings and kneewalls (even between floors)

5. Soundbatts at master common wall, all bathrooms and utility room

6. r-30 certain-teed insul-safe 3 blown on all attic space

Drywall

1. 1/2" regular on all walls

2. 5/8" type x on all ceilings, garage walls, and under stairways

3. 1/2" dura-rock on all tubs and showers

4. r-c 1 channel installed on 1st floor sub ceilings

5. 1/2 soundboard at media room

6. All drywall screwed on

7. United States Gypsum Drywall

8.Use all 12' drywall on 1st floor, longest available on 2nd floor

Tape-Bed-Texture 

Tape-Bed-Texture should be decided on an individual basis according to: Architecture and Design. 

We offer a wide variety of textures. Splatter drag and orange peel are our most common. In recent years hand trowel textures have caught on well and we do them all. The following should be done regardless of what texture you choose:

1. Tape-bed properly

2. Sand walls completely

3. Top coat primer before texture

4. Touch up after primer

5. Sand touch-up

6. Ready to spray
